Nature and heritage

The Gard balances its territory between nature and heritage, leaving plenty of choices to keep the kids busy.

Village des Enfants and Seaquarium

Younger children will love the rides at the Village des Enfants in Vauvert, or a visit to the Seaquarium in Le Grau-du-Roi, which features fish and marine mammals. The Cévennes steam train, running between Anduze and Saint-Jean-du-Gard, also offers a unique way to reach the Bambouseraie botanical garden.

The Pont du Gard

The Pont du Gard remains the department’s must-see site. This Roman aqueduct with three tiers of arches towers over the Gardon Gorges. You can swim there, take a guided tour, explore the museum and educational area, or solve the riddles of the Explorama treasure hunt. In summer, a sound and light show is added to the experience.

The Nîmes Arena

Another dive into history: the Nîmes Arena, which can be explored with an audio guide that recreates the atmosphere of gladiator battles. The Tour Magne and the Maison Carrée complete the tour of the ancient city.
