The Bambouseraie in Cévennes is a botanical park located in Générargues, in the Gard region, about an hour’s drive from Camping Les Amandiers. Created in 1856, it now features over 1,000 varieties of bamboo and numerous species from around the world, spread across 14 hectares.
It’s one of the most interesting nature outings to plan during a stay in the Gard, especially in summer: the park is largely shaded, making it pleasant to explore even in hot weather.
The visit begins with an alley lined with giant sequoias, then continues through several plant environments: the Dragon Valley, the Laotian Village, and the Bamboo Forest. You’ll also encounter ginkgo biloba, Japanese maples, palm trees, and lotus flowers.
Two features make the visit more fun for families: the aerial walk, accessible from age 6, and the plant labyrinth. A specific route is available for children under 6.
Beyond just a stroll, the park explores the plant world and nature conservation through its various areas. It’s an outing that complements hikes in the Gard well for those who want to discover the Cévennes in a different way.
From Camping Les Amandiers, in Gallargues-le-Montueux, it’s about an hour’s drive to Générargues. The route heads north of the department, towards Anduze and the Cévennes foothills.
Since the park opens in the morning, an early start allows you to enjoy the coolest hours and then, in the afternoon, explore Anduze or other sites in the Gard.
The Camping Les Amandiers, at the gates of the Camargue, is a convenient base for exploring the Gard. Located between Nîmes and Montpellier, it allows you to combine the Cévennes to the north and the Mediterranean to the south.
For accommodation, you can choose between our mobile homes for 2 to 4 people, our family models for 5 to 6 people, and our pitches for tents, caravans, and motorhomes, with or without electricity.
After your day in the Cévennes, you can enjoy the campsite’s aquatic area, restaurant, and seasonal entertainment.
