Located 40 km from Camping Les Amandiers, the Camargue Regional Natural Park stretches across the Rhône delta, between Arles, Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, and Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône. Pink flamingos, rice paddies, and bullfighting traditions make up this landscape at the gates of the Mediterranean.
Between fresh and saltwater, the delta forms varied landscapes: salt marshes, wetlands, lagoons, deserted beaches, and rice paddies follow one another in a timeless atmosphere. On the developed trails, on foot or by bike, you cross a living territory where black bulls and white horses, inseparable emblems of the Camargue identity, coexist.
By staying at Camping Les Amandiers in Gallargues-le-Montueux, you are ideally located to explore the Petite Camargue, on the Gard side. This more discreet, less frequented sector offers equally vast panoramas, between salt marshes, ponds, and vast prairies. A destination to discover peacefully, at nature’s pace, in addition to a broader discovery of the Camargue.
The Camargue is the only pink flamingo nesting site in France. They are observed in large numbers in the park’s ponds. The Pont de Gau Ornithological Park, accessible to all, allows you to see them up close, alongside many other species: purple herons, little egrets, glossy ibises, and storks.
But the park is not just about its wildlife. It has a strong culture, rooted in the land and traditions. Visit a manade to discover the traditional breeding of bulls and horses, attend a Camargue bull race, or go horseback riding in the marshes.
Places like the Maison du Riz (House of Rice) in Arles, or the Maison du Cheval Camargue (House of the Camargue Horse) in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, help to better understand this culture. The Salins de Giraud, with their salt hills and pink hues, offer a surprising and photogenic landscape.
Located in Gallargues-le-Montueux, in the Gard’s Petite Camargue, Camping Les Amandiers places you less than 40 km from the park’s iconic landscapes. A peaceful and wooded setting, between Nîmes and Montpellier, close to the beaches of Grau-du-Roi.
You will find mobile homes for 2 to 4 people, family models for 5 to 6 people, as well as spacious pitches for tents, caravans, and motorhomes.
After a day of walking in the marshes, the campsite’s water park and restaurant await you to relax, with family or friends.
