From the resort to Port Camargue

Le Grau-du-Roi began attracting visitors in the 1930s for its climate. The resort then developed in the 1970s around Port Camargue, a marina designed by architect Jean Balladur, who also worked on La Grande-Motte. Today, Port Camargue is Europe’s leading marina.

Sailing, Kitesurfing, and Diving

Here, you can rent boats, learn to sail, practice kitesurfing, jet-skiing, and scuba diving. The 1828 lighthouse is a classified Historic Monument. The fishing port is the second largest in the Mediterranean, with 25 trawlers: providers take visitors out to discover sea fishing or try their hand at big-game fishing.

Seven Supervised Beaches

On the beach side, seven lifeguard stations mark the supervised beaches, on either side of Port Camargue: Le Boucanet, Rive Droite, Rive Gauche, Plage Nord, and Plage de l’Espiguette, all Blue Flag certified.

The Seaquarium

For a family outing, the Seaquarium features species from around the world, with dedicated pools for sea lions and seals.
