About 3000 people live in Gallargues le Montueux. This little village in the département of the Gard has a long history. It is mentioned on documents as Villa Galicianus from 1007 AD. Built on the former Roman route between Northern Italy and Spain, the Via Domitia. 800 meters from the village lays the archaelogical site of Ambrussum. In the Middle-Age, Gallargues le Montueux would welcome the pilgrims walking to Sant-Iago de Compostella. Nowaydays, the campsite Les Amandiers maintains the tradition of welcoming for outdoor stays and green holidays.
